A long hard slog
If you are receiving the link to this chip in, then you have contributed to Olive before. I have resigned myself to needing to board her for the long haul, so if you want to help periodically with her boarding costs, feel free. We are both grateful for your help.
She is doing well. Recently I began taking her to a fellow volunteer's house on the weekends to run in the yard. She loves it and is working off a bit of the weight she's gained since being in boarding essentially since July, with one month off for her short term adoption. We play catch with two balls so I keep her moving!
I also bought her some CET chew bones with the special anti-tartar stuff on them, as I noticed two things recently. One, when I give her her chew bone every week, her gums started to bleed. This could very well be from only chewing a bone once a week. But I also noticed that her teeth, while having the tartar scaled off in July when I first pulled her, are starting to get brown again. They weren't polished back then, just scaled, but it seems to have gotten worse. So Pedro at Top Dog is going to give her a CET chew each day. Won't she be glad! I went with the petite size so I could be sure it would not get stuck on her tongue like the flip-chip kind they make for medium or large dogs. When I had her in the yard this week, she had one and pretty well chewed it, not swallowed it.
If you need any information about Olive, please do not hesitate to email at at aconner68@peoplepc.com. I have had a few of these chip-ins, all with long stories and by now you know what's going on.
Many thanks for your help. This week someone wrote me to get my address to send Olive some chew bones! A number of weeks ago she got a beautiful winter coat from another Facebook fan. Last month half her boarding was covered, and I was as grateful as she! We also received a few one-or two-day contributions and I applied them to this month ($52 of the $403 needed was donated, and I gave the rest - $351). Olive may well end up being a community dog. She is loved, and she doesn't know better since it's been so long.
Still, if you know someone who is patient and kind, and is a homebody and leads a quiet life, who is not daunted by a dog who is wary of strangers, and who likes an affectionate dog, send them my way! Olive has a flyer and I can email that to you. She must be an only pet, is healthy, and fully vetted.
Take care,
Adele
